Villa Meon is a great base for skiing. Local ski resorts in the Southern French Alps are Isola 2000, Valberg, Auron, Greolieres and Limone in Italy. The closest is Isola 2000, about 60 miles and one hours drive (2 hours on the skibus)

You can take the skibus from the centre of Nice to Isola 2000 for 29 euros (2007 prices) for a day return including the ski pass.
